Walking has to be one of the best ways to take in the delightful West Sussex countryside,
getting close to Mother Nature and enhancing your well being. 80% of West Sussex
is rural and more than 50% of it is designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty.
There are many trails to suit all abilities including woodland and coastal routes.
Most of the walks are also easily accessible by public transport, enabling you to
do your bit to preserve and pay back our beautiful environment.
Some of the most spectacular
views can be seen on the South Downs National Park.
The South Downs Way is a 160 km
National Trail which runs from Eastbourne to Winchester following the line of ancient
tracks through the river valleys of the South Downs. You will see Saxon churches,
Iron Age hill forts, old windmills, Georgian manor houses and pretty villages.
